Control the Language to Control the Debate

America’s gun ban zealot political faction has succeeded in developing a distorted rhetorical language to advance their unconstitutional campaign against firearm rights, including a complete suite of code words they use to embellish their propaganda.

For example, instead of the truthful phrase - gun ban - the gun ban zealots employ phrases like - gun control - and - gun safety - to depict their gun ban initiatives. They have also convinced the biased news media to trundle right along with their linguistic rhetoric. That the news media plays right along is no surprise really, especially when the news media still refers to an atrocity like the ethnic slaughter that occurred in the defunct Yugoslavia as "ethnic cleansing". The genocidal murderers of Yugoslavia got away with calling their heinous war crimes "cleansing", and the media has actually gone along with their terminology, and largely still dose. In that same vein, the gun ban zealots want to "cleanse" all the guns out of America too.

What the gun ban zealot faction secretly believes is that the only "gun safety" is the total banishment and destruction of every civilian firearm in America. In New York State, for example, the gun ban zealots, led by one of their leading gun grabbers, Governor Andrew Cuomo, even named their latest overreaching and unconstitutional gun ban and confiscation statute with the acronym "SAFE" which euphemistically stands for "Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement" Act. The New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act statute text repeatedly employs the terms "surrender", and “immediate surrender”, as its code word term of art to describe confiscation of firearms from New York residents under a variety of circumstances and statutory provisions. For example, all New York residents must now sell all gun magazines that can contain more then ten (10) rounds of ammunition to an out of state buyer, or destroy them, within the next year, or be liable to criminal prosecution for mere possession of them. The punishment for mere possession of such an ammunition magazine punishment includes confiscation of the gun magazines by the state, in addition to prison time.

The gun ban zealot rhetoric gets worse though, because they have all but completely convinced the average American that a modern sports rifle, is really an "assault rifle", although that is an outright lie. Despite the fact that modern sports rifles, are not “assault rifles”, the gun ban zealots, appear to have actually won that battle of words. The problem is that such language coups have been essential components of their gun ban propaganda campaign. Once they have convinced the uninformed that a modern sports rifle is actually, in their words, "an automated killing machine", “only useful for mowing down masses of people", supporters and defenders of the second amendment begin the rebuttal with a mountain high uphill battle before them, just to change the language used in the debate, let alone gain traction within the debate itself.

Just as supporters and defenders of the second amendment have maintained an infrastructure against the potential onslaught of the gun ban zealots and their unconstitutional legislative initiatives, the gun ban zealot faction has been laying in wait, planning for years for the opportunistic moment when political circumstances lend themselves to their rhetoric. An all out mobilization, including grassroots lobbying of elected federal and state representatives is all that stands between America's lawful and responsible firearms owners, and gun ban zealots like California’s U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, who keeps saying "turn 'em all in, Mr. and Mrs. America".
